A. Data in the Physician Finder Report (PFR™) comes directly from the nation’s Pharmacy Benefits Managers (PBM).

Q. What is a Pharmacy Benefits Manager?

A. PBM are large databanks containing information on over 80% of the prescriptions written in the United States. Pharmacies, insurance companies, and Medicare/Medicaid voluntarily upload prescription data daily into the databanks.

Q. Why haven’t I heard of this data before?

A. PBM have not allowed this data to be used for outside purposes until recently. They allow the data to be distributed in the healthcare and legal industries.

Q. Is this Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA?

A. Yes. A HIPAA authorization is required in order to release the information.

Q. What information is required to submit a PFR™ order?

A. Full name, Gender, D/O/B, SSN, Zip Code, and HIPAA compliant authorization requesting medical records.
